Freedom to Communicate

A 12-week 1:1 coaching programme for international landscape architects, urban designers and garden designers.

Close the gap between what you know and how it sounds in English.

You're technically strong. But in English, it doesn't always come across that way.

You know your subject. You understand the design decisions, the strategy, the reasoning behind every choice you make. But when it matters most - in a client meeting, a project review, an interview - your English doesn't reflect the professional you actually are.

You simplify too much. You hesitate. You give the safe answer instead of the right one. And afterwards, you know you sounded less experienced than you are.

You're not alone.

International landscape architects and designers working in English face a specific and frustrating gap - between what they know and how they convey it.

You stay quiet in meetings, not because you have nothing to say, but because by the time you've structured it in English, the moment has passed.

You describe what you did instead of why you decided it - and sound more junior than you are.

You know the answer. You just can't always get it out with the authority and clarity it deserves.

Imagine instead:

Walking into a client meeting knowing exactly how to articulate your design decisions

Responding to unexpected questions with structure and confidence, not hesitation

Presenting your portfolio and having people understand not just what you did, but the thinking behind it

Speaking up in meetings and being taken seriously at the level you actually operate

Feeling like your English finally reflects your expertise

“I decided to take this course to strengthen my fluency and confidence in professional English speaking. At the beginning, I wasn’t completely sure it was what I needed, but it turned out to be exactly that.

For me, confidence is about trying, even when you don’t feel ready - and trusting that it will come with time. I remember feeling very nervous at the start, but lesson by lesson I became more relaxed. Now I feel much more confident asking questions and putting myself forward, even with new colleagues. I also feel more professional when I speak, and I hope others see that too.

One of the most important things I learned was to trust myself and speak, even when I’m not entirely sure. The lessons were tailored to me and clearly structured around landscape architecture, which made a huge difference compared to traditional English lessons. What helped me the most was learning how to structure a presentation.

Thank you so much for all the lessons and materials. You were always kind and welcoming, and I felt listened to and never judged. I truly believe my confidence in speaking has improved so much.”

Let’s chat about how I can help you

This is why I have created my unique programme, Freedom to Communicate, designed to give you the one-to-one support, accountability and direction to get started.

Who this is for

You're a landscape architect, urban designer, or garden designer working in English. You have a solid level of English - B2 or above - but in professional situations, under pressure, it doesn't perform the way you need it to.

Your drawings speak for themselves. Now it's time your English did too.

This programme is not for you if you're looking for a general English course, are unwilling to practise, or expect results without stepping outside your comfort zone.

How do I know this will work for me specifically?

Before we agree to work together, I need to know exactly what you need, and you need to know whether this programme is the right fit for you. So we start with a free coffee chat. If it feels right, you then take a short placement test and complete a needs analysis questionnaire. I draft a report on what I see - your strengths, your gaps, what we’d focus on - and only then do we design your bespoke programme. Nothing is decided until both of us are sure.

What we work on together

Over 12 Weeks, we work through five milestones built around your real professional challenges*

  • Learn the foundations of clear communication. Navigate live conversations with confidence - responding clearly using speaking structures, buying thinking time without sounding unsure, and holding your ground.

  • Move from describing tasks to explaining decisions. Learn to structure your design reasoning clearly and strategically in spoken English. Learn to remain calm when challenged under pressure.

  • Learn to formally present your concepts with clarity and impact using speaking structures and sign-posting techniques. Stand up to (friendly) criticism, answer questions and objections to your designs and ideas. Receive feedback on your pronunciation of key words and terms.

  • We zoom in on extending knowledge of and vocabulary related to topics that matter most to you or that you need at work.

  • Advanced communication techniques. We will look at strategies for more effective communication such as rephrasing, analogies and storytelling.

*A quick note on how this works in practice. The five milestones give you a honest framework for what we focus on together. But no two clients are the same - and the moment I start working with you, I'm listening for where the real gaps are. Sometimes we spend longer in one area. Sometimes something unexpected comes up that needs attention first. The programme is bespoke designed around your individual strengths and weaknesses.

I'm not here to teach you perfect English. I'm here to help your English finally reflect who you already are.
