Why we value your privacy

We value your privacy as much as we do our own, so we’re committed to keeping your personal and business information safe. We’re uncomfortable with the information companies, governments, and other organisations keep on file, so we ask for only the bare minimum from our customers. We’ll only use your personal information for the purposes described in this policy. We don’t sell your personal information, and we only share it with service providers where necessary to run our business and provide our services, or where we’re required to do so by law.

How we collect information

We ask for contact information including your name, email address, and phone number, on our website so that we can reply to your enquiry.

Our website and the third-party services we use may use cookies or similar technologies that are necessary for their operation. Where required, we will ask for your consent before using non-essential cookies or similar technologies.

We collect your email address when you sign up for one of our newsletters. When you take one of our online quizzes, we may collect your name, email address, optional professional information such as your job title, your quiz responses and results, and your email marketing preferences. We use this information to provide your quiz results and, where you have consented, to send you relevant follow-up emails, resources and information about our services.

We ask for your account and contact information when you hire or buy something from us.

Occasionally, we might receive your contact information from one of our partners. If we do, we protect it in exactly the same way as if you give it to us directly.

What information do we hold?

  • When you contact us by email or through our website, we collect your name, email address, phone number, social media username, and the company you work for, if you’ve given us that.

  • If you sign up for a newsletter, we only collect your email address. If you take one of our online quizzes, we may collect your name, email address, optional professional information such as your job title, your quiz responses and results, and your email marketing preferences.

  • When you buy something from us, we collect your name, email address, phone number, and delivery address.

  • If you do business with us, we also collect your business name and bank details and keep records of the invoices we send you and the payments you make.

  • All purchases are processed by Stripe via Squarespace, our e-commerce platform and we never have access to your credit card information.

Where we store your information

When you contact us by email or through our website, we store your information in Squarespace, our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software. If you sign up for our email list or consent to receive marketing emails, we store your contact information in MailerLite, the email marketing platform we use to manage our mailing list and send email communications. When you take one of our online quizzes, your information and quiz responses are processed through Interact, the platform we use to provide our quizzes. If you provide your email address and consent to receive marketing emails, your contact information and relevant quiz information may also be transferred to MailerLite, the email marketing platform we use to send follow-up emails and other communications you have agreed to receive. When you buy something, your information is stored in Squarespace, our e-commerce platform, and if we do business, we store your information in our accounts software, within Squarespace. We chose these systems partly for their commitment to security.

What we use your information for

We use your information for the reason you provided it. This may include responding to an enquiry, providing a product or service you have purchased, delivering your quiz results, or sending communications you have asked to receive.

If you have consented to receive marketing emails, we may send you relevant educational content, follow-up information related to your quiz results, and information about our products and services. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in our emails.

We may also use your information where necessary to administer our business, including sending invoices, statements or payment reminders.

How long we keep your information

We keep your personal information only for as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected, or for as long as we are required to keep it for legal, accounting or regulatory reasons.

If you unsubscribe from our marketing emails, we will stop sending you marketing communications. We may retain limited information necessary to record your preference not to receive further marketing emails.

Your data protection rights

You have rights over your personal information. Depending on the circumstances, these may include the right to ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, to correct inaccurate information, to ask us to delete or restrict the use of your information, or to object to how we use it.

Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw that consent at any time. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in our emails.

If you would like to exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details in this policy.

Who’s responsible for your information at our company

Camilla Walton, our CEO, is responsible for the security of your information. You can contact them by email at hello@cultivate-english.com or by phone at 44 7535 051752‬ if you have any concerns about the information we store.

Who has access to information about you?

Within our business, access to your personal information is limited to people who need it to do their job.

We also use trusted third-party service providers to help us run our business and provide our services. These include platforms such as Interact for online quizzes, MailerLite for email communications, Squarespace for our website and e-commerce, and Stripe for payment processing. These providers may process personal information on our behalf where necessary to provide their services.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We may disclose information where we are required to do so by law.

The steps we take to keep your information private

Where we store your information in third-party services, we restrict access only to people who need it. We store passwords in Google Chrome, an encrypted password manager, use a different, randomly generated password for each service, and never use the same password twice.

The computers we use are all encrypted using Mac software and are protected by a passcode or fingerprint access. These computers ask for authentication whenever they’re started or after 5 minutes of inactivity. Our mobile devices are also protected by a fingerprint or facial recognition.

How to complain

We take complaints very seriously. If you’ve any reason to complain about the ways we handle your privacy, please contact Camilla Walton by email at hello@cultivate-english.com or by phone on 44 7535 051752‬. If you’re the letter writing type, send your envelope to Fishermans Cottage, Spring Road, Lymington, SO413SQ.
