Speak with Impact
A flexible coaching programme designed to help ESL Landscape Architects speak confidently under pressure and showcase their expertise with clarity and impact.
Seize opportunities to sell yourself and set your ideas free.
As a Landscape Architect, Urban Designer or Garden Designer, you are an authority on a range of specialist subjects related to the built environment.
There are many situations where you need to demonstrate your knowledge to colleagues and consumers of landscape services and be able to use appropriate, clear and concise verbal communication for specific circumstances and audiences.
You need to engage with stakeholders, effectively influence others and be able to negotiate to reach agreement and resolve conflicts.
These occasions are also an opportunity for you to sell YOU!
Imagine going into an interview knowing exactly how to present your skill set and impress the panel with your unique perspectives and experience.
Imagine discussing your designs clearly and confidently, structuring your responses to questions so you can highlight your solutions and the benefits they bring.
Imagine joining in on conversations with other professionals in a webinar or on a teams call and being taken seriously by your clients and colleagues.
Speak with Impact is designed to help you:
Feel less nervous about speaking English by focusing on being clear, not perfect;
Stop worrying about mistakes and start improving through regular practice;
Learn to organise your ideas and say them clearly and logically.
Why speaking on the spot feels hard (especially for ESL Professionals).
Speaking on the spot can feel overwhelming for ESL Landscape Architects and design professionals. Whether it’s a client meeting or a job interview, the pressure to respond quickly and clearly - without preparation - can lead to hesitation, self-doubt, and anxiety.
When you’re asked to respond quickly in English, your brain often goes into overload:
You second-guess your words instead of focusing on your message.
You worry about grammar or vocabulary and lose your train of thought.
You feel pressure to sound perfect, which makes you freeze up instead of speaking naturally.
This anxiety doesn’t just affect how you speak - it impacts your confidence, credibility, and career growth.
But here’s the secret: you don’t need to speak perfectly - you just need a strategy to cope in the moment.
By using structured thinking techniques, mindset shifts, and practice, you can train yourself to respond confidently, stay calm under pressure, and sound more natural - without feeling overwhelmed.

“When you lack confidence, you convey uncertainty, which leads stakeholders to question your solution. To be certain, having confidence is not about being arrogant, cocky, or asserting that you’re always right. It is allowing the knowledge that your skills are valuable to overflow into your tone, body language, and attitude when you talk about your work. Being confident is being proud of your work while also understanding that you’re not the only smart person in the room.”
— Greever, Tom. Articulating Design Decisions
